Tree Observation – Gunung Megang Rubber Plantation

Project TREE has been making regular Rubber Tree Observation or demo-plot activities in many places. at One of the places is Gunung Megang, South Sumatera, Indonesia. The observation is to monitor latex productivity and leaf condition of five tree groups (G.1-G.5), with 10 trees per group. Latex productivity is monitored twice a week, while leaf condition is monitored once a week.

The Jul 13-30 observation showed that G4 kept the highest latex productivity with lower defoliation. All groups showed a recovery trend as leaf condition improved, but productivity has not fully recovered as trees are still developing new leaves. Project TREE will continue these monitoring to improve natural rubber’s sustainability.
