PROJECT TREE Sustainability Activity Quarterly Report (July to September 2022)

Report

Carrying the same spirit, during the third quarter (July – September), the Sustainability Team provided capacity building to 1038 smallholders (Male 885 Female 153) in 26 villages spread across Jambi, South Sumatra and Lampung Provinces. Since the start of Project TREE in 2021, a total of 3065 smallholders have been trained by the Sustainability Team until September 2022.

Entering the third quarter, which means that the second cycle of RSS or the monitoring phase has begun where the Sustainability Team will re-monitor and evaluate the smallholders who participated in the capacity building program in the first quarter. The Team received quite a lot of feedback during the monitoring activities. As expected by Pak Rinto, one of the smallholders in Jambi asked the Sustainability Team to continue to intensely maintain communication with his farmer groups when they are going to replant so that they can apply BMP (Best Management Practice) from the beginning of planting with proper management. Another request from Pak Sugiyanto, one of the smallholders in South Sumatra realized the importance of having land legality after attending training by the Sustainability Team. Pak Sugiyanto understands that land conflicts can be avoided with proof of land ownership. This is a motivation for the Sustainability Team to continue to contribute to smallholders who play the most important role in 85% of the natural rubber supply in Indonesia.
