PROJECT TREE Sustainability Activity Quarterly Report (January to March 2023)

Report

In the first quarter of 2023 (January-March), 983 smallholders participated in PROJECT TREE training program (Male 784, Female 199). Up to March 2023, a total of 5,100 smallholders have participated in PROJECT TREE programs from 111 villages in southern Sumatra (Male 4,260, Female 840) since PROJECT TREE was started.

Mr. Wagiman, one of the smallholder participants in South Sumatra appreciates PROJECT TREE because the outreach and capacity building training provided has instilled a positive spirit for rubber smallholders in his neighborhood.

At the same time, PROJECT TREE continues to increase Smallholder participation in traceability schemes. A total of 331 Smallholders have joined in Phase 3, where the traceability system can read the location of smallholder’s farms and the risks against conservation areas or protected areas more accurately. The participation of these smallholders will enhance the distribution of incentives which are later believed to motivate them to manage their rubber plantations even better.
